Cardi B Shares New Album Plans
Cardi B may be known for shutting down rumors before they have a chance to grow legs, but every now and then, she’s perfectly happy to leave fans with something to speculate about.
During a conversation with The Breakfast Club at the iHeartRadio Music Festival in Las Vegas on Friday, September 18, the rapper dropped some exciting news: a third studio album is already in the works, and she plans to release it next year. Real 92.3 LA captured the moment and shared it on Instagram.
“I am doing a new album,” Cardi revealed. And apparently, she’s ready to disappear into work mode once her birthday rolls around in November. “After my birthday in November, I’m shipping myself away just to record,” she said.
The good news for fans? Cardi insists they won’t be waiting another seven years for a follow-up. Her first album, Invasion of Privacy, arrived in 2018, while her sophomore project, Am I The Drama?, didn’t land until 2025.
So, how much of Album No. 3 is actually finished?
Well… don’t expect Cardi to be sending the project to mastering just yet.
When DJ Envy asked about her progress, she admitted, “I’m not done at all… [I have] like, two [songs].”
Two songs might not exactly scream “album almost finished,” but Cardi quickly made it clear that she’s not planning to drag the process out.
“I got a long way to—No, it’s not going to be a long way to go,” she clarified. “Absolutely, [next year]. I’m not even playing around.”
And what’s changed this time around? According to Cardi, it all comes down to confidence.
She explained that she’s feeling a renewed sense of confidence, even breaking into Patti LaBelle’s “New Attitude” to capture the mood. In other words, Cardi feels ready—and she wants fans to know she means it.
The rapper also reflected on her summer, saying she was “outside all summer,” although she admitted that she isn’t exactly the biggest vacation person.
Now, with a new album officially on the horizon, fans are hoping Cardi really does keep the momentum going this time. And there’s already reason to believe she’s staying active musically. In July, she released “AH HA,” and she recently appeared on the posthumous Nipsey Hussle album PROLIFIC, a project created in collaboration with Bino Rideaux.
Of course, there’s still a long road between having two songs and releasing a full album. Singles, features and other surprises could easily pop up before the project arrives.
For now, though, Cardi has made her promise: Album No. 3 is coming in 2027. Whether she sticks to that timeline remains to be seen, but one thing is certain—her fans will be watching every move between now and then.
