Billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk has revealed his all-time favourite musician, throwing his weight behind legendary German composer Johann Sebastian Bach as the greatest musician ever.

Musk, the CEO of SpaceX and Tesla, praised the 18th-century musical genius in a post on X, likening his influence and brilliance to that of renowned English playwright William Shakespeare.

“Johann Sebastian Bach is the Shakespeare of music. Best there ever was,” Musk wrote.

Bach, widely regarded as one of the most influential composers in Western classical music, was a German composer, keyboardist, violinist, organist and music director whose remarkable body of work continues to shape music centuries after his death.

His celebrated compositions span several musical forms, including the Brandenburg Concertos, Cello Suites, Sonatas and Partitas for Solo Violin, Goldberg Variations and The Well-Tempered Clavier. His renowned organ pieces include the Schübler Chorales and the Toccata and Fugue in D minor, while his major choral masterpieces include the St. Matthew Passion and the Mass in B minor.
