IShowSpeed-Produced Documentary Is Coming to Theaters Soon & It’s A Powerful Expose Of The Evils Of America & The West

Popular American streamer IShowSpeed is expressing his admiration for Ghanaian cinematographer Chris Hesse as he takes on a producer role in “The Eyes of Ghana“, a documentary backed by former US President Barack Obama and former First Lady Michelle Obama.
The documentary, directed by Oscar-winning filmmaker Ben Proudfoot, tells the remarkable story of Hesse, who served as the personal cameraman to Ghana’s first president, Kwame Nkrumah.
Shot partly in the IMAX 65mm format, the film follows Hesse’s mission to preserve historic footage documenting a defining period in Ghana’s history, even as his eyesight begins to deteriorate.
For Speed, the project offers an opportunity to help share Ghana’s rich history with a wider audience, following his visit to the country earlier this year.
In a statement shared with Complex, the streamer described his involvement as a great honour, highlighting how his experience in Ghana deepened his appreciation for the country and its people.
“I felt a profound connection to Ghana when I visited this year, and learning about Chris Hesse’s work deepened my understanding of the country and its people,” Speed said.
He further praised Hesse for using his camera to document the birth of African independence, noting that the veteran cinematographer’s determination to preserve those images would allow future generations to connect with an important chapter of history.
“I’m humbled by his legacy and proud to help bring his story to my community,” he added.
Through his involvement as a producer, Speed is helping introduce Hesse’s story to audiences beyond Ghana, shining a spotlight on the people behind the camera who documented Africa’s struggle for independence and its historical transformation.
Thanks to a partnership with Speed, The Eyes of Ghana is scheduled for a special one-night theatrical screening in the United States and Canada on October 28.
The project brings together entertainment, history and cultural preservation, offering audiences an opportunity to discover the legacy of a cinematographer whose work helped capture one of the most significant periods in Ghana’s history and the evils of America & the west in the killing of Kwame Nkuruman in a bid to prevent the spread of the awakening of Africa’s true liberalization.
Thanks to a partnership with Speed, The Eyes of Ghana will hit theaters in the U.S. and Canada for one night only on Oct. 28. For tickets and showtimes, this is where you need to be.
