Popular UK DJ Tim Westwood Hit With Two More Sexual Assault Charges

The criminal case against former BBC Radio 1 DJ Tim Westwood has grown again, with prosecutors adding two new sexual offense charges and bringing the total number of charges to 17.

The latest allegations involve two different women and span more than a decade. According to the BBC, one charge relates to an alleged indecent assault involving a girl who was 16 or 17 at the time, said to have occurred in Hammersmith and Fulham in 1991. The second alleges that Westwood sexually assaulted an 18-year-old woman in Wandsworth in May 2004. The Metropolitan Police announced the additional charges on September 22.

Westwood was already facing 15 charges involving seven women over alleged offenses said to have taken place between 1983 and 2016. Among those are four counts of rape, with the remaining charges relating to alleged indecent and sexual assaults. Westwood pleaded not guilty to all 15 charges at Southwark Crown Court in December 2025.

The Crown Prosecution Service said the two new charges were authorized after prosecutors reviewed evidence gathered during the Metropolitan Police investigation. Deputy Chief Crown Prosecutor Catherine P. Baccas said the additional counts followed separate reports made by the two women.

Westwood has not yet entered pleas to the new charges. He is expected to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court, though no date has been announced.

Meanwhile, the trial concerning the original 15 charges remains scheduled to begin on January 25, 2027, at Southwark Crown Court. The CPS has also warned that public commentary about the case should not risk prejudicing the ongoing proceedings.

For now, the case continues to develop, with the two latest charges adding another chapter to the legal proceedings against the former broadcaster.
