Rihanna Reveals How Many Unreleased Songs She Has In The Vault

Rihanna may have enough unreleased music to fill several albums, but that still doesn’t mean fans are getting R9 anytime soon.
It has been a full decade since the global superstar released ANTI in 2016, and the wait for her next album has gone from frustrating to almost mythical. At this point, R9 isn’t just an anticipated album—it has become something of a pop-culture legend.
And until Rihanna herself says otherwise, the Navy can only keep waiting.
The latest tease came during a recent Fenty Beauty event, where Rihanna was asked how many songs she currently has sitting in her vault. Her answer suggested that the number could be around 170 tracks.
“If there are 10 products [in the Gloss Bomb Vault], then I have at least 17 Vaults,” Rihanna explained.
That little phrase—“at least”—may be the most important part of the whole answer. If her calculation is anything to go by, Rihanna could have far more than 170 songs tucked away.
So, yes, the music is apparently there.
The bigger question is: when are we getting it?
Despite the decade-long wait, Rihanna’s absence from the music scene doesn’t appear to mean she has stopped creating. Instead, much of her attention has shifted toward her business empire, particularly Fenty Beauty, while she has also been focused on raising her family with rapper A$AP Rocky.
For Rihanna, releasing another album simply doesn’t seem to be a priority right now.
And that’s perhaps what makes the R9 saga so fascinating. Every new appearance, interview or seemingly innocent comment sends fans into another frenzy, only for the album to remain firmly locked away.
There have been rumours, theories and endless fan speculation, but no concrete release date—and certainly no official announcement that R9 is about to arrive.
For now, fans may simply have to accept the harsh reality: Rihanna has the music. She just isn’t ready to give it to us yet.
Could new music eventually arrive? Absolutely. But if you’re expecting R9 to suddenly drop tomorrow, you might want to lower those expectations.
Until Rihanna decides otherwise, the Navy’s greatest challenge remains the same: patience.
